JARVIS Mrs. Daisy Jarvis, daughter of 'the late Willie JarvL? and Mrs. Martha Jarvis Galloway died at the Moses H. Cone Hospital on December 7, 1967 at the age of 27. She resided at 711 Asheboro Street. ? ? i Funeral service was held at the Brown's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, December 11, 1967. Rev. Monroe Fuller of the New Cedar Grove Baptist Church where she was a member, officiated, assisted by the Choir and Usher Board of the church. Interment followed at the Piedmont Memorial Park. She leaves to mourn their loss, three children, Terry, Kenneth and Tab, all of the home; her mother, Mrs. Martha Galloway, and step-father, Mr. Albert Gal loway of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Hattie Love, Mrs. Less>e Powell, Mrs. Pansy (Pam) Cook, all of Greensboro, and Miss Betty Jarvis of New York City; five brothers, Mr. Jerry Jarvis, Mr. Willie Jarvis, Jr. of New York City, Mr. John Jarvis of Greensboro, Mr. Theodore Jarvis MRS. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR PROMINENT DOCTOR Funeral rites for Dr. Henry Clayton Eccles, Sr. were con ducted at St. Matthews Metho dist Church, 609 S. Ashe St., DR. HENRY C. ECCLES, SR. Greensboro, North Carolina on December 11, 1967 at 4:00 P.M., with Rev. James Peters, officiat ing. Dr. Henry Clayton Eccles, age 72, was born in Summerfield, N. C. on March 27, 1895 and de parted this life on December 8, 1967 after an extended illness. He was the son of the late Pink ney L. Eccles and Mary Clark Eccles of High Point, North Car olina. Prior to moving to Greens boro at an early age, Dr. Eccles lived in High Point. After completing the High Point Normal Industrial School and Bennett College In Greens boro, Dr. Eccles enrolled in the school of Pharmacy at Howard University where he received a degree in Pharmacy. Since that time he has served for thirty two years as a pharmacist in New York City, Hampton, Va. and Greensboro^ N. C. Before his illness, Dr. Eccles was an active member in sev eral organizations including Vet erans of Foreigh Wars, Shriners and Khalif Temple No. 144 of which he was a Past Potentate, The Old North State No. 87 Elks Lodge and Invincible Masonic Lodge No. 251. He served on the Official Board of St. Matthews Methodist Church of which he was an active member. Leaving to mourn his passing are his widow, Mrs. Mattie P. Eccles of the home; two sons, Henry C. Eccles, Jr. of Ingle wood, Calif, and Charles D. Robinson of Greensboro; sisters, Mrs. Alma Thompson, Brooklyn, N. Y. and Mrs. Louise Butler, Philadelphia; a brother, Wilson Eccles, St. Albans, N. We are asking Churches, So cial, Fraternal and Professional Organizations to make a contrl ( Continue* on Pag* 8) DEATHS MISS JOSEPHINE DONNELL Miss Josephine Donnell died Thursday, December 7, 1967 at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital at the age of 52. She was a resi dent of Bigelow Rest Home. Funeral services were held Sun day, December 10, 1967 at Mc Leansville Baptist Church and burial followed in the church cemetery. There is no known living rela tives. MR. C. A. GREGORY Mr. Crawford Alexander Gre gory, age 68, of Route 6, Greens boro, died Monday, December 11th, at the Moses Cone Hospital. Funeral services were held at 3:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14th, at Hargett's Memorial Chapel. Bishop John Troxler, the pastor of Faith, Hope and Char ity Holiness Church officiated and burial followed in the Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church Cemetery. He is survived by two daugh ters, Mrs. Gloria G. Neal and Mrs. Carrie G. Darden, both of Greensboro; one son, Charles J. Gregory of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; two great grand children; five brothers, Frank Gregory of Oxford, N. C., Rich ard Gregory of Henderson, N. C.. James Gregory, Willie Gregory and Charles Gregory, all of Orange, New Jersey, other rela tives and friends. The family met their friends at Hareett Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. Hargett Funeral Service in charge of the arrangements. MRS. IDA NORA CARTER Mrs. Ida Nora Carter, age 38 died Friday, December 8th fol lowing a brief illness at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. She lived at Route 1, Box 462 Brown Summit, North Carolina. Funeral service was held Monday, December 1th, 3:30 P.M. Elm Grove Baptist Church, Rev. S. G. Griffies pastor of ficiated. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The body remained at Brown's Funeral Home until the hour of service. Survivors include two broth ers, Arthur Settle, Wilmington. Delaware, Rev. Johnny Settle, Brown Summit, North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Christine Craw ford, Greensboro and Mrs. Mo zen Headen, Brown Summit, North Carolina. FINAL RITES HELD FOR A&T STATE UNIVERSITY STUDENT Funeral service for Samuel Ronald Cotten, A&T State Uni versity senior, who died of a stab wound here last Friday, was held "Wednesday, December 13 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Ports mouth, Va., with Dr. H. H. John son officiating. Burial was held in Lincoln Memorial Cemetery. Cotten, 21, a native of Ports mouth, died after receiving stab wounds inflicted by a 20-year old Greensboro youth. The wounding occurred on an outside basketball court of a lo cal YMCA where Cotten had gone to play after classes. He was pronounced dead at the Uni versity Infirmary. Police are continuing a search for a man identified as Ralph Eugene Oliver, wanted in connec tion with the slaying. Police said he is not a student at A&T. Cotton participated in football and track at I. C. Norcom High School. He was on the track team one year at A&T. Cotten was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Cotten, 1011 Ef imumRf&ww m :;m Samuel Ronald Cotten fingham Street, Portsmouth. Be sides his parents, surviving are two sisters, Misses Beverly Ann Cotten and Miss Carolyn M. Cotten; and material grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Bryant, all of Portsmouth, and a brother. FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. LILUE B. GRAHAM MRS. LILLIE B. GRAHAM Mrs. Lillie B. Graham, daugh ter of the late Rev. Daniel T. and Sarah Graham Best, died at Sampson Memorial Hospital, Clinton, N. C. on December 7, 1967 at the age of 81. She was I the wife of the late Abram D. Graham. 1 She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Bessie M. Fair cloth of Clinton, N. C., Mrs. Min nie L. Kennedy of Washington, D. C., and Mrs. Lillian G. Mit chell of Sedalia, N. C.; two sons, Mr. William H. Graham and Mr. Albert B. Graham both of Balti more, Md.; one sister, Mrs. Mary B. Faison, of Warsaw, N. C.; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 10, at the First Baptist Church, Clinton, N. C. Burial followed at Sand Hill Cemetery. Mr. McBride Thompson, Sr. Mr. McBride Thompson, Sr. of 1523 Maple Ave., Burlington died Monday, December 11, 1967 at his home, after 2Vz months of declining health and 3 weeks of critical illness. He was a native of Burlington, N. C., the son of the late Mrs. Cora Pinnix Thompson and Mr. Jerry M. Thompson. Mr. Thompson was a pioneer civic leader and business man of Burlington, member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where funeral services were held Thursday, December 14, 1967 at 3:30 p.m., Rev. W. M. Lake, pas tor of the church and Rev. Na thaniel Gaylord officiating, with burial in the city cemetery. The body laid in state at Hargett Bryant Funeral Home until Wednesday at 4:30 p.m., at which time it was carried home. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Delacy I. Thompson, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Ger ole Davis of Brooklyn, N. Y., Mrs. Ida T. Willis of Washing ton, D. C., Mrs. Gwendolyn Alex ander of Jamaica, L. I., N. Y. and Miss Cora Lee Thompson, of the home; two sons, McBride Thompson, Jr. and Lacy M. Thompson both of Burlington, N.
